Please read the critique given out in class. Reflect on the comments the judge made on our paper... please be specific. We should try to make these changes immediately.
One thing I noticed that she said was about pictures and taking better ones. I think for this we should talk to the photo journalism students because I know I can say for me that I use their pictures most of the time. As for the ski trip picture when I was looking through the photos I didn't see a lot to choose from. A lot of the pictures weren't clear, didn't come out right when shrunk, etc. So I think part of this critique needs to be discussed with the photo journalism students, everything she wrote about how to take good pictures. I will definitely take her advise on the "in this issue box". I thought I was to pick three things from each section and right a one or two word summary. I think its better if we dont include as much and include more of an explanation with the page numbers. As far as the text wrappinf around photos, I noticed that era in the fall issue and have tried to correct it since then. But I will still be aware of not making the mistake. Also for the entertainment comment I think she is right. I tried to use the boxes to separate articles. I decided that this is to busy so today when I was laying out I just put a line to separate the articles.
I think that she gave us a lot of good constructive critisism. I feel that we really have to take more pictures as a class instead of relying on the pictures others people take and being forced to make them work. She says that our picture need to tell more of a story and basically not be so general. I think we have come a long way with this paper but there is still so far we have to go. W have only scratched the surface of our potential of layout and we have a lot still to lear but we learn from our mistakes and that is good.
i think she gave us a lot of good ideas so our newspaper can be better. We should take more pictures & better ones also. Some pictures were dark or also unclear. We all mostly focus on the layout because thats the hardest part of it. Its okay because were still learning.
the things that she had said were very good in order to help us get better in making newspaper. the comment said about the picture i had felt was pretty acurate most of our pictures are hard to see. if we fix this problem maybe we will get even more readers
i thing that the pictures are a big part of our newspaper. People want a visual and not only text. Pictures makes the newspaper more attractive. we need to focus on getting better pictures, we can't always rely on other peoples pictures. As for layout, we are gettiing there improving every time and there is always room for more improvement.
I think it was good that she told us about the photos, because it is true, and we definitely need to take pictures of our own, and not always rely on the photojournalism class, because a lot of the pictures we use in the sections, doesn't even have anything to do with the story. I like how she told us that drawn pictures would make a good edition, because I drew for two of my articles, and I like them better than actual pictures. She gave good advice, when she told us to show don't tell the reader what you want them to read, so maybe having more pictures to show evidence is s good idea. From these things she said, which was mostly toward the news and entertainment sections, but was mostly about the layout, I think we can learn a lot from this, and our last paper will probably come out really good, once we have everything in place.
i think the ideas she gave us were good and i think more pictures should be used because there werent really a lot of pictures. most people mostly focused on layout but next time im sure we'll do alot better
I can say that i agree on every thing this judge said about from the way our paper is layed out to the photos taken for the paper. I also agree with sarah we should rely on taking the picture our selves and we most absolutly have come a long way from creative english writing to objective news writing and relying on technology more. I think that we can use this a reference as a reminder to tell us what we need to stay away from.
i think that this issue was better then the ohers. We had some spelling problems, and grammer. we really need to add more pictures and make the paper more attrative. addng more pictures, or make quotes bigger, and intreaging side bars and articals.
