Today all classes received a copy of the first issue of the paper...

I think the way that the paper was laid out looks really nice, especially the entertainment section. There are good pictures also, except for a few that you might not be able to see. There were definitely many spelling and grammar mistakes, and I guess some of us didn't use spell check, or we didn't look over our work as well. Some of the font with the page numbers was not all the same, and even peoples names were spelled wrong in the bylines. I think we were rushing or made careless mistakes. One of the headlines wasn't even there, and a word in one of the headlines was spelled wrong. I think it was all about the little mistakes that we made, like spelling, and that can be easily fixed. Overall, I liked the stories in the paper, and I think we can be able to pace ourselves better in the next round. :)
I thinkthe paper was good. I liked was the entertainment section they did a good job. I liked how most of the pictures that were taken and put with ypur stories. Some where not clear. There was alot of space between artciles. We have to work on the spelling which i am not so good at but Anastasia is really good. The pages were not alike the pages are on the wrong side of the page the head lines were differnt font. But over i all I am proud of all of you and it was a great first issue. We all learn for from are mistakes and we all made mistakes nobody is prefect we all did are best keep it up.
For our first paper, it was really impressive. I think that we did a really great job, so there's a few mistakes , no big. They were minor, nothing huge like stories missing the point or not incorporating information that's needed and that's the most important part. I am so impressed with the entertainment section. Their layout is amazing, which definitely gets an A+ in the catching-attention part. [: The articles are well done as well. Editioral looks pretty awesome too, i couldn't find many mistakes here, Erin & Anastasia did a great job. The sports section was really cool. Interesting articles that still had a objective! News did good too haha. The first page came out really great. Feature definitely did a good job with adding articles that the school cares about the most.
All in all, we did a good job. Just minor details were incorrect but that's alright.
I think the paper was pretty good for the first go round. We did make careless mistakes that can be change next round because they are simple spelling and font sizes. I think if we knew how to use indesign more it would have came out a bit better. I do give congrats to everyone who did put effort into the newspaper and we all did work hard but i would really like to congragulate melissa and shazia because they had the best layout section and who ever did the front cover was good too. Everyone did have great articles. The section that needs most help sadly is mine i need to figure out indesign more and work on my news writing skills cause i have none lol. I did have my kevin young title but idk wat happen wen the guy put the news paper together i guess it got cut off but it shouldnt have cause it was under the pics.. i think in the next newspaper we should have an extra section for radom things such as quotes, poems, a "my favortie thingy about wjps" etc.
i comletey agree with georgina and the whole random section for poems and qoutes and what we like about the school. although some of the things that my advisory said was painful i just need to look on the good side of what we did and they didnt know the effort we all put in it. I though the front cover was really good because it was just really good. Even though there were a couple of error, I think its just mostly typos and layout mistakes. I think overall the articles itself were meaningful and they were very up to date. I KNOW we WILL do better next time and we will show them what we can really do. When we do that, we'll rub it in their faces (just knidding).
i would have to say thatthe nesaer was very good the pictures were good but some of them cameout really dark there were spelling mistakes some peoples nameswere spelled wrong and in one headline school was spelled scchool but i guess we just had to make the deadline and we can do a better job next time
Overall for everyone's first time with no experience whatsoever I think the paper was okay. Compared to last year I think it was an extreme improvement. I think we should not let what anyone says effect us(don't take it personally). Know body but the newspaper class really knows the behind the scenes. All the work and dedication that went into the paper. However there were a few things hat caught my attention.
Captions: There were no captions on some pictures, weird phrasing in captions, placement was to spaced apart in some captions, also the font was wrong.
Articles: were grammatically incorrect (past, present tense, ordering, etc.), there was a range from few to many spellings errors, inverted pyramid not used in some cases.
Headlines: misspelled, not catchy (plain), to long, wrong font
layout errors included: tops of pages (section, page number, size, etc.), bi-lines, spacing, font, etc.
Overall I think we could have done a better job organizing as a whole class.
For next issue I think we should have overall people fore the paper, proofreading, overseeing all articles, making sure formatting and everything is right.
For next time I think we should include more of the school. not just the people in our class, nobody wants to read about us and its a little boring.
Also, we should decide what is appropriate for the paper. I thought the drug article was a little inappropriate for the 6th graders and gave a little too much information out.
although i have not seen the paper yet im sure it look really good. We all put a lot of work into that paper. I heard that there were so spelling mistakes but for the first issue thats not so bad you had to excpet some errors here and there. Ive got to say though some comments people from other classes were quite hurtful considering how much work it took all us to complete the issue. Someone told me that my adviosry say there and circled all the mistakes. I dont feel that our school appriciated that we have aa school paper and the work that goes into. Nothing is perfect ecpecially the first time around. I think for the next issue we should start working on it earlier and blow everyone away. =]

For our first timers like me, i think i improved and with other people's improvement and dedication we put together a great paper. i have recieved some great comments from people and it makes me feel good. Some things we have to work on would be grammar mistakes and better layout. Different types of fonts were put in the nlayout for next time we have to get it together, meet deadlines, and proof read our sections. NExt time around is going to be a large improvement.

i think that the as our first issue we did a good job! there were some spelling and grammer errors. but the second issue was wayyy better :]
