I liked the tips for sports reporting packet, because it listed out specific and the most important tips, such as being prepared and getting to know more about sports, as well as not being afraid to ask deeper questions and getting both sides of the story. It seems similar to news, but this packet also said on one page, that there are three types of sports writing(game coverage, human interest and feature stories, and columns) I think I would like to do a human interest piece or a column. I also learned that if you are writing about a game, you must not only state the scores, but to tell what happened, almost like in a story. If you7 are writing the story you have to get quotes from both teams, or sides in order to not be opinionated.
I think the most informative sheet we got was the one titled: Covering sports. there was so many pointers, rules, and basic information journalists should know before writing a sports article. Which is what we need. When I learned we were going to be writing sports articles I was a little scared, because I don't know sports jargon, and personally am not into many sports. I like watching baseball, boxing, and football. That's about it, and I thought sports writers are usually into sports and find them very interesting. I wasn't sure I would be able to write a good article. However after reading this handout I am confident that with these tips I will be able to create a successful article. From what Ive learned sports writing combines feature with news. You have to keep your article informative but lively. You can cover game stories, analysis stories and profiles, and columns.
I think it similar to the other writing that we’ve done because it has to be accurate and as a writer we have to know what were doing and what were talking about because if we don’t then we can make a statement that is completely false and it’ll go all downhill from there. I also think it similar because it is like righting a story of what happened. I think it is different because other writings that we’ve done goes into detail when it says that, “we don’t need to hear every play or every detail.” I’m not quiet sure what material we can cover but some can be college sports and racing games and the regular basketball and football. Maybe we can cover a topic on a specific high school kid that is really into sport and would like to pursue his career in sports. I think I can cover it by using one a couple of tips and examples given, such as, focusing on important plays or key player and then build a story on it. I also can not be afraid of asking tough questions that really get to the players core of this or her answer. If needed, I can also add a graph or sidebars. However, I do not know how serious I am going to take sports writing because it says that “sports are supposed to be fun. So are your stories.” I am not quiet sure how I am going to make it “approach lively”. But I am sure that this is a challenge I can take on and achieve. Hopefully.

Reading these sports packets did make me realize that it might b news but its different the most articles. u still cant b opinionated and its most important to get boths sides of a story in sports becuase u always have an opponiate so its better to get 2 opposite opinions and not state ur own. now that i am in entertainment i feel like im writing completely different. Sport might supposidly b fun to write but its even harder wen u cant side with a certain person or team. In sports the 3 most important articles to do are to cover game coverage, human interest, and colums. This packet did make me loosen up because i was stuck between different styles of article type writing. The basics of sports writing is the same as any other type of article but the core is so different. Its deeper and more specific on play by play. also most important becuase writers need to focus on scores and the all star player, get good questions to get good answers and make sure if its based on a person to see the way they play, their weasest and strongest stratagies in their game time. and more specific.
I like the packet because it tells you what you can write and put in your article and what is not supposed to be in it. It is like a mixture of all the different types of wirtting. I want to do it on the ticket prices and how they affect the fans and what they have to look forward to and how much they have to dish out. I think this would be a good article to do.
When i read these articles i saw the diffrence between news and sports. I thought it was the same but they have their diffrences in some places. I'm doing my sports article on how he devils lost their winning streak and also their road winning streak. I think this is going to be a important article because that was a really good chance that they could've kept on going with their streak
i liked the information that the packet had given me and it helped me with my sports writing. it helped me see some of the things that i should add to my sports writing article. the article also showed me the difference between news and sports and sports and feature and the differences that they have

I really think that the sports reporting packet help a lot. I like the way the packet show us what to put in and what to not put in. It gave us a lot of tips and such as being prepared and getting to know a lot more about sports, At first i as really scared because i already have some trouble whit news articles and i though sports articles were gonna be a lot harder. What also bother me was that i not a sports person and i know by me not being interested i was not gonna do such a good job. However after reading this handouts i was so much confident i saw sports in a better way. What i have learn from sports articles is that it combines to feature an with news.

Sports writing is simialr to other writing that we've done because it still contains the who, what, when, where, why, and how. It contains many similar aspects that other writing styles we have done contain. Its differnt because of the tpoics that we are covering. The kinds of material we cover in sports are differnt games, athletes and the things they do. You cover these articles by being in these places while thigns are happening, keeping up with what is going on and making sure you get other peoples input.
