i liked this article. its interesting.i think we should not shut down newspapers for high schools. there should be some space for students too to share their voice and views.

I liked the explanation on the first article. I was surprised when the high school principal decided to shut down the paper because he did not an editorial in the paper. I think it was wrong to do that because an editorial is allowed to state opinion, and isn't the schools paper allowed to have free speech? It was a good explanation to back up on.
I think the first article was more interesting then the second. It was down to earth and was a fun to read. i think that we should have a space prepared for anyone who want to add there opinion.
I feel that both articles are fascinating. I completely understand what the writer was saying about the school administration telling the staff what can and cannot go in a paper and I think it poses some conflict and debate. In the second article I think Edgar Mendez is a very dedicated to journalism.

I found that in the first article I could relate to a few things. The first part about the secret newspaper made me think of the dead poets society movie. The same concept of braking the rules for literature, very empowering and influential.
I think I remember hearing about the principal who wanted to shut the newspaper down story. For big schools with thousands of students I think a newspaper is crucial. Students might become informed on things they were previously on aware of, some students might get recognition and attention they deserve (student doing a good deed, etc.)
To me newspapers serve many purposes. They bring people together in a way that no other activity or exercise can.
This article sparked something in me. After reading it I felt a really strong sense of clarity. I realized what the experience of being in a newspaper is all about. To think of taking it away is outrages. I personally cant wait for our own first issue to come out.
I like this article it was interesting. I don't think we should shut down newspapers. There should be somewhere that us students should share our voices and views.
i agree with eirene! Students' need a area where they can express their opinions and views on different ideas and the newspaper is the perfect place. The first newsarticle was pretty cool. Yes students may get their information from the internet but that doesn't mean that the internet is the only resource teens have to having the latest information on all important issues. Its ridculous; kids would read more newspaper if the newspaper had some serious focus on their issues and knew what everybody' interested in and NEEDS to know. [:
I liked the first article better. It explained alot and i understood what they were talking about.I thought that the principal shouldn't have shut down the paper because he did not like what a kid wrote in his editorail. I think it is good to have kids speak their mind in the school paper so other kids could here what they had to say on an issue. I think that it is good to have your opinion in the paper. It is called the freedom of speach.

I thought that the principal shouldn't have shut down the paper because he did not like what a kid wrote in his editorail. for me i think that its pretty cool that wjp has there newpaper that represents our opinions, adn or comments, suggestions; etc. It's a great way to show what we are all made of and what we like or dislike and what to fix or to improve on.

i think that news papers are important in high schools and they should be kept in them. They inform student of whats going on in the school and its a great expereience to be a part of. I was surprised that the principle of the first article want to take away the newspaper just because he didnt like something it said. The newspaper should be about free speech. You shouldnt be hurting people but the students should still have the oprotunity to express their opinions nicely.

I liked the first one i found it more entertaining to read compared to the second one and i could relate to some things in the article.
I think that high school newspapers shouldn't be shut down. They are a good way for kids to express them self.

i liked the first article because of my relation to the article. The principle trying to shut down the paper is not good because the students need to be informed. I would be dissapointed if this happened to me. Especially in a big school, students need to be informed about what is going on around them.

I liked more the first article. I think they shouldnt shut down news paper because student like to write what they feel in it. So there voices can also be heard.
i dont think we should stop newspapers in schools i think the principle was wrong by shutting down the newspaper class in the first article newspaper is a place for kids to talk about their ideas and things they feel is important
i don't think it right to shut down newspapers cause it help students know whats going around in there comminty and school surroundungs!!
